Medavir
What is Medavir?
Medavir is a 100% natural product created for the treatment of the herpes simplex virus. The product claims to treat current outbreaks as well as stop future outbreaks with a few treatments. According to the Medavir website, the product is the number-one rated herpes medication available with a 98% satisfaction rate among users.
Does It work?
Medavir claims the individual ingredients in Medavir have been shown to prevent outbreaks in several research studies. Sores that did occur during treatment have been reported to be smaller and heal faster with the use of this product compared to leaving them untreated. It is worth mentioning that Medavir was found effective when applied during the “tingling” or prodrome phase of an outbreak.
A number of doctors do prescribe Medavir for the treatment of herpes which lends some credibility to the claims. It has also been tested on humans in a number of University studies and the results indicate some effectiveness of the product when compared to a placebo.
What About The Company?
Medavir is manufactured by TAG Healthcare which has been in existence since 1999. The company is rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau which is only possible when companies have a high customer satisfaction rating. The company claims to have over 500,000 satisfied customers and offers 24 hour support.
Is It Safe?
The ingredients that make up the Medavir formula have indeed been approved by the FDA, which does not guarantee safety but does suggest it. The active ingredients in Medavir received the “Generally Recognized As Safe” (GRAS) recognition from the FDA and the product has not been shown conclusively to cause any serious side effects.
Downsides
The main criticism of Medavir is that it is actually not effective. It has been suggested that the safe rating by the FDA is only due to the fact that the ingredients in Medavir are not in fact effective herpes treatments but are actually innocuous compounds like simple fluoride found in toothpaste. The research behind the drug suggests otherwise but the authenticity of such studies is not always a given. When compared to the clinical trials of prescription medications for the treatment of herpes, the studies behind Medavir are not as reliable. The claim that Medavir prevents outbreaks is also not completely proven though the Medavir website does make such claims.
Several accusations have also been waged against Medavir and its Maker, TAG Healthcare, saying their marketing is misleading or untrue. Several sources claim that web sites and organizations that “independently” support the use of Medavir are actually fabricated organizations and sites owned by the makers and distributors of the product. Not all accusations can be assumed true simply because they are made but they are worth considering.
Bottom Line
As you will find with just about every product out there claiming to naturally treat herpes, the actual effectiveness is not clear. Most treatments are costly and you need to use caution in selecting product that have not been proven effective. Some natural treatments do work but the prescription treatments will always be more reliable.
